How To Use A Shampoo Bar

Now you have made the choice to use our natural shampoo bar you need to know how to use it correctly to get the maximum benefit for your hair.

Here is our guide on how to use a shampoo bar:

    • Comb out your hair before shampooing
    • Wet the shampoo bar and lather in your hands before applying the lather to your hair.
    • Ensure you create lots of lather which is important when using a shampoo bar. You need to work the lather into your hair to wash away the dirt and extra oils.
    • Massage the lather into your roots and through the lengths of your hair. Don’t forget the nape of your neck.
    • Always rinse thoroughly. Repeat this step.

Top Tips For When Using Your Shampoo Bar

It is recommended to use an apple cider vinegar rinse after washing with a shampoo bar to make sure you’re completely rid of any shampoo, grease or product residue, and it will leave you with gorgeously shiny hair!

You can make your own rinse using water and apple cider vinegar at a 4:1 ratio. This will help re-establish your hair’s natural PH level.

Once you’ve washed your hair with the shampoo bar, spray the hair rinse on to your hair thoroughly from roots to ends and comb through, leave it for around 20 seconds and rinse out. Don’t worry, the vinegar scent disappears when your hair is dry!

There can be a transitional period when switching to shampoo bars while your hair and scalp adjust to the change, especially if you’ve been using commercial shampoos with synthetic ingredients. You should give shampoo bars at least a week to rid your hair of old residues, and because they don’t strip your hair in the same way as detergent based shampoos, your hair might feel different after washing.

For a few weeks your hair might feel greasier than usual, which is due to commercial shampoo stripping your hair of its natural protective oils and your scalp producing more oil to compensate. Your hair and scalp will need a transitional period to detox and re-balance.

If you live in a hard water area it is particularly important to rinse all of the shampoo from your hair. Again the best way to do this is to use an apple cider vinegar rinse after you’ve washed your hair with the shampoo bar.

Apple cider vinegar is also a natural remedy to treat dandruff.
